It is very important that the readers of this report should recognize him first before reading the report.

 Report on Alumni Program
Mahesh Dholiya, Anchor of the day
That was the very ebullient moment when Dr. Indra Gadhvi, Asso. Prof. and Head of the department of Marine Science spoke on his special subject “Present Scenario of Indian Wilde Life” with pictorial presentation. Mahesh Dholiya was an anchor of the day and with successful adjustment of the time, place and action, commenced the program at 4:15. With academic fervor, he introduced all who were present on that occasion. On behalf of Alumni Association, he welcomed guest speaker Dr. Gadhvi, Head of Marine Science Department, Dr. Dilip Barad, Head of the Department of English, former students and freshmen of the department. That was the genuine rapture that from the new and fresh bench, there was a student namely Lajja, invited Dr. Gadhvi as a part of history.

Dr. Gadhvi could bring such topic full of human beings, less reasonable and malevolent in the matter of a huge massacre of the animal and water world, quite pertinent to the human race. With striking images of dying, dead and would-be-dead animals of the hazardous situation were quite dominantly boomerang on the human world that is wholly depended on them. Dr. Gadhvi also portrayed various hobbies, interest and mater of fashionable men using the precious materials of animals. Most of the beautiful and comely races of birds and animals have been disrupted entirely from the earth. The living lives most captivated one, would only be imprisoned in the images in the text-books and the pupils and students would be studying them with ‘Alas’ if hunters kill them in bulk.
Dr. Gadhvi with his presentation on wild life...
Dr. Gadhvi’s observation power seems much scrutinized in the sense that he had really good collection of these dreadful data which is now insurmountable for the government yet it works hard to protect the animals and birds but this will remain an Achilles Heel for the government. That day’s bulky information could not bring drowsy numbness among the audience. His graphical presentation became the subject of the audience’s eyes. His presentation from the humanistic approach was remarkably outstanding and didactic. His most ear-catching statement at the end of the presentation was that if the human race brings freedom to such a gullible race, perchance, almighty may keep bestowing manna in the form of real happiness otherwise. This problem may remain potential and permanently inexorable.

Dr. Gadhvi remained judgmental that the human race has to be philanthrope in the matter of guest animals and be responsible for their deterioration as well as development. He also told that we should not be apathetic about general problem, as Narayan Murthi says in his writing, “We are also apathetic about …we see serious problems around us but behave as if they are someone else’s responsibility.” It had been tough to encapsulate whole speech in a few syntaxes but as a part of the dignity, Amrutha gave a valedictory speech and offered him a vote of thanks. There was no doubt in saying that the audience supplied a big applause for such gigantic man of wild life. Dr. Gadhvi was honored with a little book called ‘Drop of Nectar’ by Sarayu as a part of a departmental tradition. At last, Dr. Dilip Barad, felt gratitude could thank Dr. Gadhvi for his precious time and sharing his knowledge of the wild life of India. Genuinely writing, time with Dr. Gadhvi was mesmerizing and awesome. Looking forward to you Dr. Gadhvi sir!

Dr. Yashpaul Kalra - “Influence of Surrounding Atmosphere – Inspiration to Poetic Creation”

Topic of the program
Dr. Prof. Yashpaul Kalra had been invited on Saturday afternoon, 17 August, 2013 with reverence and regard from the desk of Alumni Association, Department of English, Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University. Alumni Association organized this program with reference to literature and language.
There was a rigorous response from the crazy audience of literature being collective in a good number. Program was looking comely and enthusiastic with the presence of Dr. Dilip Barad, Head of Department of English, the poet Dr. Vinod Joshi, Head of the Department of Gujarati, Dr. M.B. Gaijan, Head of the Department of English, Samaldas Arts College, Alumni members like Miss. Heenaba Zala, current visiting faculty of the department, Siddharth Desai, Mahesh Dholiya, Hemant Vyas, former students and freshmen of the department.

The program was organized with the efforts of Alumni and remained successful by Kalra sir’s spontaneous speech and lecture on his respective subject “Influence of Surrounding Atmosphere – Inspiration to Poetic Creation”. Basically, Dr. Yashpaul Kalra is a retired professor from Samaldas Arts College. Dr. M.B. Gaijan who is the Head of English at Samaldas Arts College, is a student of Dr. Kalra. He has a very heavyweight of life experience from place to place, from college to college and finally he has been settled in Bhavnagar as a silent poet but writing poems violently in the sense, writing poems in torrent. His book of a collection of poems ‘Impressions’ is an evidence of judging him as the most popular Scholar Gipsy of literature in English means there is no any station of literature he is not acquainted with.

his teacher Dr. Kalra
Heenaba was a Sarathi of the program. Though she arranged the session hastily, she could bring no any problem in encoring. Dr. Gaijan sir grabbed an opportunity of speaking about Dr. Kalra sir and his career as a whole. All the professors were welcomed with floral welcome as well as verbal welcome.

Miss. Heenaba Zala, encoring the program

Dr. Kalra has seen the casual topics of day-to-day life. Animals, creatures, birds and human being, means four worlds of Archetypal Criticism, were imprisoned in his poems and locked permanently in the poems.  He talked on why he had selected these subject matters and themes. His language caught listeners’ thoughts and attention.  There was a silent noise among the audience. How he employed his imagery and real motives, living and non-living objects was a mystery. His interaction with the listeners was simply impressive. It was just to imagine listening to the poet about his own creation. So the poet, critic, creator was appreciating his own crux of his surrounding atmosphere. Deepti, a current student of the department asked a question of poetic creation and persona, a mismatch in poetry according to T.S. Eliot.

Dr. Yashpaul Kalra, sharing his ideas and fancies...

But Dr. Kalra sir replied with the necessity of surrounding stimuli for creating a poetry is a must. That means a surrounding atmosphere is a part and parcel of writing poetry. Heenaba called Dr. Vinod sir to enliven and deepen this subject. Vinod sir’s Gujarati Shaily was charming and heart-touching to attract the audience. Nirvayaktikaran and relation with poetic creation was very attentive to know from his Abhivyakti. In a nutshell, the session had been remained live and awesome for two hours.

That was a lecture with two experienced poets of Bhavnagar. Siddharth Desai had lost and fumbled for words for Dr. Kalra’s performance and live nature. He gave a valedictory speech and showed a gratitude to them. Barad sir and Vinod sir were given ‘Impressions’ a book by Dr. Kalra sir as a part of a bouquet.

That day was a literary hit for all Alumni and students of the department. Present audience will always miss this session and absents have missed out it. Alumni Association would thank Barad sir for suggesting them inviting such a giant poet, Vinod Joshi to remain present, Dr. Gaijan to introduce Kalra sir, Heenaba to encore the program and Siddharth Desai to give a vote of thanks.

Mahesh, anchoring the program ...

One of such programs is organized on the third Saturday of the month in which the guest speakers are invited to talk on the topic of his interest. Thus, on the last Saturday (20 July 2013), we had Dr. Bharatsinh Gohil as our Guest Speaker who is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Life Science, (MKBU). “Human Resources: A Scientific Approach” was the subject on which he delivered a           lecture and made the session more interesting.

Bharat Sir, discussing about
the difference between Brain and Mind ...

Bharat Sir, interacting with students ...

The way Bharat Sir talked about Brain and Mind and the difference between these two terms made the discussion more interactive. He also asked for students’ opinions and talked about the struggle between Brain and Mind that we face and how we generally choose the possible option that our mind leads us to do. He advised not to set our Mind in a way that we cannot think out of the box. Ultimately, Thinking is the prime portion which governs us so whatever is your action that you perform, it is only your Thinking which leads you to do. His talk on this portion of Thinking and the witty examples that he gave while conducting the session made the atmosphere more exciting. As Shakespeare said, “Nothing is either Good or Bad, Thinking makes it so.” Truly, it is our thought that moves our action towards the result (whatever it will be...). The Department of English (MKBU) will always be grateful to Bharat Sir that he shared fruitful knowledge with students. We are also thankful to Pratiksha, Shubhda, Mahesh, Ashvin, Yashapalsinh, Devendra for their co-operation which made this event successful.

Shubhda, giving Book to Bharat Sir ...
